2016 Artists and Awards Program Announced at Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

May 9, 2016

This promises to be an exceptional year at Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition.

We are thrilled to announce that Murray and Marvelle Koffler, the Founding Family of Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, have increased their Founding Chairman’s Award to $5,500 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of our organization.

We are also proud to announce The Rudolph P. Bratty Family Foundation contribution of $5,500 for the Best of Exhibition Award.

Our historical awards program is a reflection of our true commitment to celebrating artistic excellence. This year we have taken our commitment a huge step further by consolidating and increasing our awards to create opportunities for the artists that truly advance their careers, provide public recognition and a significant financial contribution.

We have an incredibly generous and loyal circle of supporters who have taken this leap with us and have helped us make this happen for our artists.

Close to $30,000 in awards will be presented to artists at the 2016 Exhibition, including:

  • $5,500 Best of Exhibition by The Rudolph P. Bratty Family Foundation
  • $5,500 Founding Chairman Award by Murray and Marvelle Koffler
  • $2,200 Artscape Residency & $1,000 Marie Collins Memorial Award for Best of Student
  • $2,000 Best of Painting by Extrudex Aluminum
  • $2,000 Best of Photography and Digital Media by Aird & Berlis LLP
  • $2,000 Best of 2D Media
  • $2,000 Best of 3D Media by Al and Malka Green
  • $2,000 Best of Wearable Artwork by Lindy Green
  • $1,000 cash + $1,000 Purchase Award for Best of Ceramics by Aaron Milrad & Brenda Coleman
  • $1,000 People’s Choice Award by NOW Magazine
  • The Mayor’s Purchase Award generously supported by the City of Toronto

The Kofflers founded the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition in 1961 as an accessible platform to nurture artistic excellence and artists’ entrepreneurial spirit. Fifty-five years later that legacy endures and thousands of successful art careers have since been launched. A beautiful partnership has emerged between the artists and art lovers over the years; together they contribute $4.7 million to our city’s economy every year – of which $2.3 million is spent on art purchases during the event according to the 2015 Economic Impact Study funded by Celebrate Ontario and produced by Enigma Research Corporation.
